(C 9807/10) L'ARTE DEL VIOLINO
Italian violin sonatas
Works by Vivaldi, Mascitti and Veracini

L'Arte del Violino - C 9807/10Under the generic name of Italian violin sonatas, this special 4 CDs box hides a far more varied music that both the title and the marvellous cover of this special edition might suggest. It is true that Vivaldi was born in Venice, and that his style is not only Italian, but also essentially Vivaldian, which has a further meaning. Mascitti, born Italian, took French nationality and lived and composed most of his production in France, and his music shows that influence. And Veracini presents an even more extreme case, because his fascinating sonatas absorb music influences from various countries: French, German and Italian music combine with other influences and with his own style, unique and irresistible.

Fabrizio Cipriani is one of the best violinists of the early music scene. From a very young aged he played both modern, "traditional" violin, and baroque violin, specialising in the performance of original instruments and being invited by Fabio Biondi to join the orchestra Europa Galante as first violin at the age of 18 years old. Gifted with a prodigious technique and an extraordinary expressive flow, he is also a great expert of the different Baroque styles and a consummated master in the art of improvisation and ornamentation, demonstrating his outstanding qualities in this 4 CD box.
